__Biography__
William harrison "Jack" Dempsey was born on June 24, 1895 in Manassa, Colorado. Jack was born to a poor Irish family made up of 10 children. Because of the scarse amount of money, it forced the family to constantley travel in hopes of their father finding work. At the age of 16 he started training in the art of Boxing at his local gym in Salt lake City, Utah.
Jack started professionally fighting under the alias of "Kid Blackie". He soon began to rack up wins and with the wins came popularity. Jack became one of the popular heavyweight boxers of all time. When the U.S. entered World War I Dempsy did not leave to fight. He was viewed as a draft dodger and a fraud. Some, three years later evidence was brought forth showing that he had enlisted in th army, but had been turned down.
