Hydrogen Bomb
The hydrogen bomb is a fusion bomb and creates a massive explosion, approximately 1000 times more powerful then the puny atom bomb. The nuclear arms race happened during the Cold War between the US and the USSR. The US was the first to successfully detonate the hydrogen bomb in 1954 on Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The USSR got their plans from early US versions that were usually wrong. The design of the bomb is based on Teller-Ulam design; in which, a fission bomb is detonated first next to fusion fuel. The fission presses the fuel together causing fusion reaction.
